Attracting Positive People & Situations by Judith Orloff M.D. / drjudithorloff. com

As a psychiatrist who specializes in intuition, I know that a very powerful life lesson is learning to how to attract positive relationships and situations towards us. Our relationships aren't random. We must begin to use our intuition to actively draw what's positive our way, a people skill most of our parents didn't know or teach us. We've learned to draw conclusions from the surface... how nice someone seems, looks, education. But attraction goes deeper; to make it work for you other ingredients must be considered.

Here is a general GUIDELINE of BODY-BASED INTUITIONS. Use this checklist at a first meeting to troubleshoot problems if you're already involved, or to access opportunities. A signature energy always accompanies situations or people. Remember the Lil' Abner jinxed cartoon character who always had a black cloud hanging over his head? Not a vibe that bodes well for positive outcomes. Instead, you must learn to gravitate towards brightness, a positive intuition your body will affirm. When tuning into vibes take a few quiet moments to go into sensing mode, not intellectual analysis. Look for these signs.

Positive Intuitions

· A feeling of comforting familiarity or brightness; you may sense you've known the person before, as with the experience of deja-vu

· You breathe easier, chest and shoulders are relaxed, gut is calm

· You find yourself leaning forward, not defensively crossing your arms or edging away to keep a distance

· Your heart opens; you feel safe, peaceful, energized, expansive, or alive

· You're at ease with a person's touch whether a hand shake, hug, or during intimacy.

Negative Intuitions

· A sick feeling in the pit of your stomach or increased stomach acid which may prompt an unpalatable deja-vu

· Your skin starts crawling, you're jumpy, instinctively withdraw if touched

· Shoulder muscles are in knots, chest area or throat constricts; you notice aggravated aches or pains

· The hair on the back of your neck creepily stands on end

· A sense of malaise, darkness, pressure, agitation, or being drained

These signs provide a no-nonsense appraisal of your body's comfort zone. (The more positive intuitions the better--even one can be definitive--but nagging negatives often mean "watch-out and go slow.") They'll lead you to friends, lovers and work milieus with positive energy. Plus, you'll know when to cool it or exit in the face of blatant warnings. Listen to these signs and your choices in relationships will become smarter and more intuitively informed.

Treasures and Treasures - by Torkom Saraydarian

“ spirit of gratitude ”

Those who have the spirit of gratitude already know that all of Nature, all of Life, is a treasure. We must learn to recognize that everything that exists is a treasure : mountains, rivers, lakes, streams, forests, flowers, birds, animals, minerals, and human beings. All of these are treasures in the treasury of space, and we must relate to them as treasures.

“ what is a treasure ? ”

A treasure is an object, a power, a living being,or a virtue that multiplies and meets your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs. It also becomes a blessing to all around you, and to all those who are far away from you.

* * *

When I was four years old, while hiking with my Father in the mountains I saw some people who were driving a carriage with four horses. After watching their joy, I turned to my Father, looking at me, said,
“I do not have a carriage, a horse... ”
My Father, looking at me, said,
“Let us sit on this rock for a moment and I will tell you what you have”.
We sat on a rock facing a valley which spread out in front of us for hundreds of miles.
“Now, first of all”, he said, “you have a nice body. Look at your hands. Here : look at your face in this small mirror. Do you see ?” “Yes”

“Also, all these mountains are yours. The air is yours ; the sky is yours ; that river is yours. This pure fragrance is yours ; these birds are yours. All of this is yours ... so long as you enjoy and care for these things.”
“ Father,” I said, “I did not know that I had all of this ! ” “Later, when you grow up, you will realize that there are treasures which cannot be seen!” “Can any treasure exist which we cannot see ?” “Yes ! For example, your vision is a treasure which you cannot see. Can you see your mother’s love for you?” “No, but I know that she cares for me!” “Right. There are many treasures in man. One day you will discover them.”

“ human being is a great treasure ”

I never forgot this talk with my father, and gradually it sank into my heart. As I grew up I realized that the human being is a great treasure, with his senses, thinking, and creativity. Whenever, I walk in the mountains and canyons, it seems to me that I am walking among treasures.A flower, a bush, a bird, a deer is enough to make you feel ecstasy!

* * *

Just as a man who lives in luxury feels that all that he has is nothing special, so mankind lives in the treasury of Nature and feels that he has nothing. Unless one realizes that he is a treasure in himself, he cannot see the real treasures in life. The moment he realizes his own worth, he will be filled with gratitude and will become aware of all the treasures by which he is surrounded.

“ four facts ”

In later years, when I contemplated about treasures and the treasury, I discovered four facts that made me extremely happy. First, I found out that there were inner, invisible treasures as well as outer and visible treasures. Second, but a more important discovery was that the outer treasures could be increased by investing and sharing them or by using them economically. Inner treasures were also increased by sharing and distributing them with joy and love. The more you gave of your inner treasures, the more you had. Third, the inner and outer treasures do not belong to us but to all life! The fourth and final discovery was that
... when you share your inner treasures, you not only increase your inner treasures but you also increase your outer treasures. And similarly, when you share your outer treasures with clean motive, you increase your inner treasures.

“ a poor life, inspite of abundance ! ”

One day, while my family was traveling by boat on the ocean, I saw a bottle floating in the water. My mother said, “Can you tell me what the bottle suggests to you?” “That someone put a cork in it and threw it in to the sea.” “ Well, that is called a smart escape. But think now. Let me see if you can find something deeper.” “You know, mother, a floating bottle is like a foolish man.” “You are very close to finding the answer. Think a little more.”
It was back on board that I finally found the answer. “The bottle is in the sea,” I said, “but the sea cannot fill it because it is closed.” “Then tell me: who is like this ?” I could not answer. Seeing my agony, she whispered in my ear,
“Like those who have abundance, but live a poor life.”

* * *

People live surrounded by treasures, but they feel empty because they are closed. The word ‘closed’ in its connotation was so deep that I was often directed to examine its depth.

“ what are inner treasures ? ”

God in man is the Real Treasure! All other treasures belong to Him, in man. There are higher treasures in man which are the result of age ... long labor. For example, healing powers, the power to see the past and the future, the power of higher clairaudience, the power of higher clairvoyance, the power of artistic creativity, the power of renunciation and detachment, the power of serenity, the power of leadership, the power over elements, and the power of continuity of consciousness are just a few.

“ treasure tower ! ”

Treasure is something that increases and multiplies to meet your needs whenever you give your treasure to others. With joy, you install a window or another door in the Treasure Tower.

“ not imposing yourself ”

By making other human beings free, by not imposing yourself, by not making others, your slaves, by refusing to exploit or manipulate others, you build the Tower. Have you helped others to think freely, to choose and discriminate freely, to act freely ? Have you given freedom to others? Have you helped to free them from their vices, glamours, illusions, vanity and ego? Every time you make another human being your slave, or anytime you encourage a person to be a slave to their own weakness, you destroy the Tower.

“ the power within ”

You have within you the power to destroy or to build. If you are engaged in destruction, you will be struck in the classroom of this world forever suffering, inhaling smog, and being subjected to radioactivity and pesticides. If you are constructive, you will someday graduate from this school we call earth and have a chance to enjoy other creations that God has in this Universe!

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE HUMAN BODY

Wealth, friends, property, and even wife if lost, can be acquired again, but the human body is not like that; once it goes, it can never be got back, no matter how hard one may try. Human life is most precious, highly sacred, beautiful and invaluable. It is therefore the prime duty of every individual to take the greatest possible care of the body. The body is an indispensable vehicle for experiences. Without it nothing can be done, not even a simple task. The human body is, therefore, more precious than worldly wealth and such other material acquisitions.

Life must be sanctified by making proper use of the body and engaging it in sacred actions. Time gone will never come back. Once the Ganges merges in the ocean, you cannot get back even a drop of its sacred water. Likewise, once life ebbs out and the body is gone, it cannot be recovered.

The human body is also a clock marking time and the passage of life. It ticks away the seconds, minutes, days, weeks, months, and years. Man knows that life is ticking away and yet he does not bother to enquire about the real purpose of life. No one can say when the clock will stop. It is, therefore, most essential to make proper use of life while it is still available. The body is the vehicle for the journey of life. If the vehicle is not properly maintained, then one must be prepared to face serious problems on the way.

Sathya Sai Speaks

The body has been gifted in order to serve others. You must firmly resolve not only to take care of yourself but also others. Unfortunately, man today does not know what service means. The essence of all the eighteen Puranas can be summarized in two short sentences: Help Ever.
Hurt Never
Though God has given the body for service man does not seem to understand what help means, being ever immersed in selfishness. Every thought, every word, and every action is driven by selfishness. Man has become a puppet in the hands of selfishness and self-interest. How can a puppet ever be called independent? Selfishness must therefore be totally rejected and selflessness must be wholeheartedly embraced. Then alone would the real purpose of the human body and human life be realized.

You must make an effort to realize that the body is just an instrument given to you for a specific purpose, and must further understand that purpose. The body must be used only for performing good deeds. You must lead a virtuous life. In the end, you must give up the body with good thoughts. Do not assume that the body has been given for enjoyment, comfort seeking, beautification, and useless pursuits of that nature. Indulgence in pleasure seeking, comfort and luxury can be dangerous. God has not given this body for indulgence.

Safeguard your body by all means and take full care of your health, but use your body solely to perform good actions

I-Ching

Extracts from the Wilhelm's I-Ching translation's introductory : « The Book of Changes – I Ching in Chinese – is unquestionably one of the most important books in the world's literature. Its origin goes back to mythical antiquity, and it has occupied the attention of the most eminent scholars of China down to the present day [i. e. around 1920]. Nearly all that is greatest and most significant in the three thousand years of Chinese cultural history has either taken its inspiration from this book, or has exerted an influence on the interpretation of its text. Therefore it may safely be said that the seasoned wisdom of thousands of years has gone into the making of the I Ching. Small wonder then that both of the two branches of Chinese philosophy, Confucianism and Taoism, have their common roots here. [...] »

« In the course of time, owing to the great repute for wisdom attaching to the Book of Changes, a large body of occult doctrines extraneous to it – some of them possibly not even Chinese in origin – have come to be connected with its teachings. The Ch'in and Han dynasties saw the beginning of a formalistic natural philosophy that sought to embrace the entire world of thought in a system of number symbols. Combining a rigorously consistent, dualistic yin-yang doctrine with the doctrine of the "five stages of change" taken from the Book of History, it forced Chinese philosophical thinking more and more into a rigid formalization. Thus increasingly hairsplitting cabalistic speculations came to envelop the Book of Changes in a cloud of mystery, and by forcing everything of the past and of the future into this system of numbers, created for the I Ching the reputation of being a book of unfathomable profundity. [...] »

« At the outset, the Book of Changes was a collection of linear signs to be used as oracles. In antiquity, oracles were everywhere in use; the oldest among them confined themselves to the answers yes and no. This type of oracular pronouncement is likewise the basis of the Book of Changes. “Yes” was indicated by a simple unbroken line =====, and “No” by a broken line == ==. However, the need for greater differentiation seems to have been felt at an early date, and the single lines were combined in pairs. To each of these combinations a third line was then added. In this way the eight trigrams came into being.
»

Trigrams « These eight trigrams were conceived as images of all that happens in heaven and on earth. At the same time, they were held to he in a state of continual transition, one changing into another, just as transition from one phenomenon to another is continually taking place in the physical world. Here we have the fundamental concept of the Book of Changes. The eight trigrams are symbols standing for changing transitional states; they are images that are constantly undergoing change. Attention centers not on things in their state of being – as is chiefly the case in the Occident – but upon their movements in change. The eight trigrams therefore are not representations of things as such but of their tendencies in movement.

« These eight images came to have manifold meanings. They represented certain processes in nature corresponding with their inherent character. Further, they represented a family consisting of father, mother, three sons, and three daughters, not in the mythological sense in which the Greek gods peopled Olympus, but in what might be called an abstract sense, that is, they represented not objective entities but functions.
